TRANSITIONAL YOGA PROGRAM

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
If you want to make a difference in the lives of others...
JOIN OUR TEAM OF VOLUNTEER YOGA TEACHERS IN BOULDER and/or BROOMFIELD COUNTIES!!!

Our volunteers often describe their teaching experience as enlightening and inspiring.  We ask that our teachers have a 200hr teacher training certificate and carry liability insurance (if possible).  The program offers the choice between Boulder County jail classes (Fridays from 1:30pm-3:00pm) to Broomfield County jail classes (Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8:00pm).  We require a commitment of one jail class per month once initial training is complete.

If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, please email Traci at:  [email protected]

                                        ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The program was developed to expand classes currently being offered to incarcerated women. Yoga Impact, Give Back Yoga Foundation and the Yoga Workshop have teamed with the Certified Yoga Teachers currently providing classes within the jail and offer classes in the community to help women maintain the benefits that come with a regular yoga practice.

she has been working hard to share

the benefits of yoga with others.

Congratulations to Karla!

Karla received her yoga mat during this year's

                                     WHAT'S HAPPENING NEXT?

2019 UP-DATE
Transitional Yoga Program

The program has certainly seen a lot of growth over the past several years.  The classes are approved pro-social activities through Boulder County probation department, and they are free for our participants to attend.  We have also been asked to create a yoga program in Broomfield County detention Center, which began in February 2018.

Unfortunately, Yoga Workshop has closed their doors after 30 years of yoga.  Yoga Workshop donated space for our weekly community class for 7 years, and we are sad to see them go.  The building has been sold and they will not be actively looking to reopen elsewhere.  We are currently in search of another yoga space in which to offer our free community classes to participants.

Our research study has been completed and we presented some preliminary findings at the Association of Psychological Science in San Francisco, CA in May 2018.  This was an amazing opportunity to connect with other researchers in the field of psychology that are interested in the benefits of yoga and other health and well-being practices.  We are currently working on the manuscript to be published in a research journal.  Stay tuned!
